Hello, everyone! Before I start talking about the main subject, I just quickly want to say that I am hoping to soon answer questions that have been asked in the comments (and thanks again for all the comments and support!). I'm hoping to get my sister to write a guest post about the fashions here (and the clothes she has gotten while here). I can say one thing about that though: the fashions are in many ways the same as in Canada, just taken up a level. I'll leave it to Elizabeth, though, to go into more detail about all of that.
The day before yesterday, my sister and I got an invitation to go with a girl and her friend to a... thing... which was yesterday. We didn't know either of them, and hadn't meet them before, but they knew our host family, and wanted to invite us to come along to this gathering. It takes place in Hamburg, and we excitedly accepted the invitation. We were told to meet them at a train station, from where we would go to our final destination.
The final destination, in itself, is difficult to describe. I don't know the precise location of where it is, even now, after I've gone. It was called the Rangers (think of it like what would happen if Canadian Girl Guides/Boy Scouts were plunked into the middle of a big city), but not only was it that but it was also a Christian Youth Group. It was really cool!
It is a really large amount of people who go to the Rangers there, so after a few inital activities, we break up into snaller groups. What we did first was a game of rock paper scissors. It was a best two out of three kind of thing, except the winner would go on to other people who won their games and keep playing against them until there was one ultimate winner out of everyone. Every time someone lost they would have to follow the winner around and cheer them on as they played. It was really fun! And after that, we all stood in a huge circle and did campfire Scouts style songs, except they were worship songs. It was really cool, and tons of fun. The words were entirely in German, so I didn't understand too much (more than I would have when I first arrived in Germany though! :D) After that we split up into smaller groups. My group talked, played games, and made (really good tasting) chili over a camp fire! As they say, time flies when you're having fun, and before I knew it, it was half an hour past the time Rangers normally ends, and ten minutes away from when Elizabeth and I had said we would be back at our house... whoops! Thankfully my Handy (German word for cellphone) is set up here in Germany, so I was able to send a quick text saying we were going to be later than expected. On the way back to the train station with the girls who invited us to Rangers, they quickly took us to the top of a car parking building, from which there was an amazing view of Hamburg! I took a photo of one pod the views, which will appear at the end of this post. It was beautiful!
After that we went to the train station, and went our separate ways. It was a great day! I got to meet a lot of people, and have a ton of fun. I'll be honest - I don't remember how we got to Rangers, but I do think I will be wanting to come back again next Friday (it happens weekly).
Also, the girls offered to show us around Hamburg, so that we could see different places with them for the first time. They seemed very excited to share Hamburg with us. I don't know when we will next meet up, but I think it will be fun, too!
Anyways, that's all I think I have for this post! Like I said, I do hope to answer questions/topic ideas from the comments REALLY soon.
Hopefully you are all doing well!
